Who, Why and How exiled: Choriev fled Uzbekistan in 2004 and has been living in the United States for several years. He established the opposition Birdamlik (Unity) group while in the United States, along with members still residing in Uzbekistan (Radio Free Europe, 2015).Choriev's father, human rights activist Hasan Choriev, died of a heart attack in March, two months after his release from prison (RFE/RL, 2015).
Other actions during Stages 1–3 (dispossession/ overseas assets frozen/ intimidation/ action against associates/ …): Hasan Choriev, was a human rights activist who died in the spring of 2014 after serving time in prison on questionable charges ( RFE/RL, 2015). In 2014, Uzbek authorities have barred Choriev and his wife to enter the country (RFE/RL,2014).
Current status: In exile in the USA. In 2015 he participated to virtual election online giving alternative voice to Uzbekistan (RFE/RL,2015).
