Stage 1 details (accusations/ charges/ Interpol notice/ extradition requests):

Komilov has been persecuted for interviewing with an opposition TV channel and is under a threat of arrest (Atayeva, 2015). His been harassed by the Tajik authorities for his political engagement with Group 24 which he firmly denies ( Абдуллоев, 2018).

Returned to Tajikistan from Russia  after threats were made against his family (TajInfo, 2015; Sputnik, 2015).

Stage 3 details (attack/ abduction/ rendition/ torture/ assassination/ death):

Komilov claims to have been poisoned at the end of July 2016, requiring a stomach pump. He was then placed in a "mental hospital" and security officials framed the poisoning as a suicide attempt. Sheroz Komilov denies this (Abdulloev, 2018).

He was arrested upon return to Tajikistan (Sputnik, 2015).

Detained in Tajikistan (Sputnik, 2015).

Was briefly held in a mental facility in 2016 on account of him being poisoned at the end of July 2016, which security forces claimed was a suicide attempt. With the help of international human rights organisations he fled to Ukraine where he has been granted asylum (Abdulloev, 2018).
