Kuzov, Mirzorahim [Shohnaimi, Karim]
Who, Why and How exiled: He is a senior member of Tajikistan's outlawed Islamic Renaissance Party (IRPT). He left Tajikistan before the violence in 2015 and has been living in Turkey and Iran (Radio Free Europe, 2017). In Tajikistan he headed the department of international relations in the executive committee of the party (Ferghana News, 2017).
Stage 1 details (accusations/ charges/ Interpol notice/ extradition requests): His family paid a high price for his political activities. In a 2017 interview with Al Jazeera, he said that his family was regularly harassed, intimidated and interrogated by the security services. Their documents, including passports, were confiscated. The security services further threatened his wife and his children (Agnieszka Pikulicka-Wilczewska, 2017).
Stage 2 details (arrest/ detention/ extradition): In October 2017, he was as detained at the Athens airport while en route from Warsaw to Tehran after attending a conference organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). ( Radio Free Europe, 2017). Greek authorities detained Kuzov at the request of Interpol (Radio Free Europe, 2017).
Current status: He has been released from detention. Greece refused to extradite him to Tajikstan (Ferghana news, 20017). His family received political asylum in Lithuania (Agnieszka Pikulicka-Wilczewska , 2017).
