Who, Why and How exiled:

Nasim Sharipov is a member of the opposition organization 24. In March  2018 he was detained in Istanbul together with Zafar Shurob, the leader of the Group 24 (RFE/RL, 2018). According to Human Rights Watch they have been detained at the requests of Tajik authorities (HRW, 2018).

They have been detained in Turkey in March 2018. On March 23, Human Rights Watch's (HRW) Central Asia researcher, Steve Swerdlow, told RFE/RL that Turkey's Constitutional Court had ruled to suspend their possible extradition amid concerns that they might face torture while in custody in Tajikistan (RFE/RL, 2018)

They were held in detention centre in Turkey. Their extradition had been suspended for three months (RFE/RL, 2018).

Sharipov has been released on 29 May 2018 (Group 24, 2018)
