Who, Why and How exiled: In September 2009 he left Uzbekistan for Russia where he settled in the Moscow region (ECHR, 2012).
Stage 1 details (accusations/ charges/ Interpol notice/ extradition requests): He was put on a wanted list in Uzbekistan for being a member of the Warriors of Islam, considered an extremist religious organisation by the Uzbek authorities ( ECHR, 2012).
Stage 2 details (arrest/ detention/ extradition): He was arrested in Krasngorsk (Russia) in May 2010 and extradition proceedings were launched against him (ECHR, 2012).
Legal status (refugee/ asylum seeker/ resident): He was released from custody in November 2011 and granted temporary asylum by the Russian authorities in 2012 (Sputnik, 2012).
Current status: Assumed to be still in Russia.
