Khudojberdi was an active member of the political opposition Birlik movement in the early 1990s (NSD, 2005). Because of his advocacy work he was forced to  flee from Uzbekistan to Sweden (NSD, 2005).

Khudojberdi was detained several times in Uzbekistan between the years 1991 and 1994, before moving to Sweden (NSD, 2005).

Khudojberdi lives in Sweden and continues to campaign for human rights in both Uzbekistan and worldwide continuing to update a website called the International Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan (International Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan, 2018).
